Hi, this is Erick Widman. I’m an immigration lawyer. And I’m going to share with you how to show that you’re exempt from one of the travel restrictions that have been common in 2020. So whether it is a ban based upon COVID, or an executive order restricting individuals from certain countries, here’s what you need to do to show you’re exempt and you can travel into the US. And if that fails, you’re able to use some contact information that I’ll share with you in a moment to get to a sub agency of CBP. So the first thing you want to do is confirm how you’re exempt. And if it’s because of your marriage to a US citizen, then you’ll want to provide proof of that, you’ll want to have a photocopy of your marriage certificate with you when you are traveling. And if you’re not traveling with your US citizen spouse, you want to have proof, for example, that that person is a US citizen with a passport or birth certificate, whatever you need to show that that person qualifies, and has that status that allows you to come into the US. Now, if you are still having a problem with the airline, and they are not accepting the fact that you are exempt from the travel ban, there’s an organization that you should encourage the airline to contact. So CBP has a regional carrier liaison group are CLG. And you can’t contact them directly. Your lawyer can’t contact them directly. But you can encourage the airline to say, hey, look, I am exempt from this requirement, please contact this organization, this agency, this group of people, and they’re available 24 hours a day. So flights still need to be happening all the time. And that organization is there to resolve issues just like this.
